This month’s Community Spotlight is the Community Association of the Highlands. The Highlands is home to 908 single-family homes located in Sugar Land, Texas. The Board of Directors is very active and initiates many projects for the betterment of the community. For example, in 2023, they partnered with the City of Sugar Land and received a grant towards the cost of a new park. What was previously a forgotten 2nd pool, filled in many years ago, became a brand-new park: Planters Row Recreation Center. This park features a large play structure, 2 picnic tables, and 2 grills, making it an ideal spot for family gatherings and picnics.
The Board of Directors also has a clear plan for the future; last year, they created a 7-year plan that consists of various community improvement projects. They have already completed 2 of the 2024 goals: install concrete pads on cul-de-sacs, and install benches on each new concrete pad. The last goal remaining is to install new landscaping on cul-de-sacs. Throughout the next 5 years, the community will undergo consistent upgrades to landscaping, monuments, and amenities.
