The Community Association at Cielo Rio, Inc. held their first Hwy 16 cleanup over the summer, with the Texas Department of transportations, Adopt-a-Highway program.
Adopt-a-Highway currently has approximately 3,700 participating groups across the state, and we want thank and salute those thousands of individuals who dedicate their time to actively make a difference and keep Texas beautiful.
On July 31, 2021, 26 member volunteers showed up to make a difference in their community and were willing to help with the cleanup. The Cielo Rio Board was delighted, to have so many volunteers. With so many volunteers they ran short of orange safety vests, but they were able to make do with what they had.
With the amazing work of the volunteers, they were able to clean up 2 miles of Hwy 16! Everyone worked hard at the task at hand, and when all was finished, they had collected 43 bags of trash. The Hwy looked very good without the trash we collected.
This was a success due to the volunteers who showed up and did the hard work. It’s our volunteers who keep this Texas-born program going strong, and your help is needed now more than ever.
