On the Northwest side of San Antonio where loop 1604 and Texas Hwy 16 meet, is a lovely suburban community nestled in Helotes, Texas, just at the foot of the Texas Hill Country. This community is gated, with a playground and pool for the residents. It is a community of 500 homes that still feels like a small neighborhood, with a Board, that works hard to keep the amenities in good shape, and keep the assessments in line with the growth of the economy. They pride themselves in being close enough to be city, but far enough, to see the country.
With great schools like Kuentz Elementary, and Sandra Day O’Connor High School within a mile of the community, as well as Hector Garcia Middle school not much further down the road, young families love this area for their growing children. And on the other side of the spectrum, the older families appreciate the location near the Medical Center, Fiesta Texas, Sea World and lots of eclectic shops in Old Town Helotes. And of course, not to be forgotten, the old quintessential Honky Tonk, John T. Floore’s Country Store. If you time your visit right, you can hear the all-time greats like Augie Meyers, Robert Earl Keen, Willie Nelson, or up and coming musicians like Aaron Lewis.
The community is active and involved, with annual activities such as their ‘Winter Mingle & Jingle’, the Polar Plunge in late winter (Jan/Feb), Easter and Halloween activities, and a new activity, summer swim lessons for the children/families in the community. All of this Texas flavor and fun, wrapped up in a small town, suburban community that is still close enough to be Big City! Come by and fall in love with Cedar Springs!
