Anita Johansen of Canyon View Association
by Tera Rond

Anita Johansen has been a member of Canyon View Association since 2001 when she joined the community with John, her husband of 28 years, and beautiful daughter Gaby after leaving Lorain, Ohio. This family demonstrates what it means to give back to the community, as John also served many years on the Architectural Committee until the 87th legislative changes required him to step down. After all these years in the community, this family has never missed a meeting.

Anita’s journey on the Board of Directors started in July 2014 and she is currently Treasurer/Secretary. She has shown her dedication to the community by volunteering her time, talents, and generosity. Anita also takes on many roles in the community, such as coordinating the annual Christmas contest, working with the city to replace community stop signs and damaged mailboxes, coordinating other maintenance repairs, and organizing the National Night Out in her community.

The best quality that Anita demonstrates is her compassion for her neighbors. When something happens to a member of the community, she always goes out of her way to let them know she cares by delivering flowers, dropping off food and gift cards, or just offering her time and letting them know the Board cares about them. She is very familiar with her neighbors, and truly makes an impact on them with such a kind heart. It is truly an honor to work alongside her and witness her compassion for all.

The Cumberland Community Association is located in Porter, Texas about 25 minutes away from the North Houston Office.  Cumberland has 325 lots with a community pool, park, and walking trails.

Cumberland left C.I.A. Services two years ago and realized that we were the right fit for the community. We are excited to have the opportunity to be their management company again!

We are delighted to partner once again with Cumberland.  Please join us in welcoming them back to the C.I.A. Services family!

Gloria Bell’s Retirement
by Laura Tate

With bittersweet feelings, we announce the retirement of Gloria Bell of our North Houston office.  Gloria has dedicated 33 years as a valued employee.  Originally hired as a receptionist, she quickly realized that the back of the office was more her speed!  She has been a Clerical Assistant ever since.

Lovingly referred to by most as “Miss Gloria”, she is someone that we all look to for guidance.  She’s been a constant presence in all our lives and has been there as both our work and home families have grown.  Many of our children have known Miss Gloria their entire lives and some would say she’s like an Auntie.

A celebration was held July 29th and folks from all over the country attended for her sendoff.  Not only was a large group of her family present, but many prior coworkers also made a point to join in. That is an amazing testimony to just how impactful Miss Gloria is and how much she means to many.

There are so many wonderful things to say about Gloria and so many fun stories.  Enjoy the photos and stories we have gathered.

  • Renea Miksch: Gloria was always listening to her Gospel music while working.  Occasionally you would hear her mix it up with a little of Kenny Rogers’s song, Lady which she played on repeat!
  • Kristen Craig: Gloria always knew how to put a smile on your face, no matter what was going on. She knew God was on your side to help you through whatever you were going through!
  • Kim Moore: I have had the pleasure of knowing Ms. Gloria for 24 years now and she has always been known as a great woman of God!  She never waivers in her faith and always tries to ensure she shares her faith with anyone she encounters. I wish you well as you retire and pray that you enjoy this new chapter. Love and miss you!
  • Deniece Reyes: Miss Gloria continues to age backward; she is simply beautiful.  I will miss your friendly reminders to get my letters done!  I hope the next 33 years are just as amazing.
  • Laura Tate: I met Miss Gloria when I began working for C.I.A. Services in 1993.  That’s a long time to know someone.  She’s been a huge part of my life and has witnessed it all.  She has been there with me celebrating the great moments and she has been by my side supporting me through the tough times.  She has shared her wisdom and life experience and always supported me and my family.  I don’t know what else to say other than I will miss seeing her and hearing her encouraging words every day.  She has earned all of the love we all have for her; she is a wonderful person!

In September, C.I.A. Services will have been in business for 38 successful years.  Miss Gloria has been with us for 33 of those years!  With the exception of two of our founders and one Executive Vice President; all of who have been involved with the company from the beginning, Miss Gloria has the longest tenure.  It will be different around the office without her smiling face and we will surely miss her.  Gloria, we wish you a very happy retirement and look forward to seeing you at our next company event.

Check out the photos of Miss Gloria and friends from over the years that we have gathered below.

Kim Moore of our West Houston Office will be celebrating a whopping 24 years with us! Kim is an Executive Vice President, responsible for managing a large portfolio of communities in addition to her corporate responsibilities. She is extraordinarily organized and always succeeds in keeping both the communities that she manages and the company board of directors on track. You’ll often find Kim involved with her godson’s school and extracurricular activities. She also loves to travel, especially cruising.

Congrats to Frances Mclntyre on reaching her 17th year anniversary at C.I.A. Services! Frances is a Community Specialist out of our North Houston Office and is our Customer Service Lead. She is always ready to assist the team anytime she is needed. In her personal time, Francis loves to barbecue with her family.

1-year Anniversaries

Please join us in celebrating Neal Lehr’s 1 year anniversary! Neal is our go-to person for large maintenance projects while also overseeing maintenance needs of our North Houston Office.  According to Neal, he does "whatever the ladies in his life tell him to do". He’s a wealth of knowledge and a true team player!  He just welcomed a new granddaugher and will soon be welcoming 2 more grandchildren into the world over the course of the next couple of months!

Candace Look will be celebrating her 1-year anniversary at C.I.A. Services this month!  Candace manages several commercial associations and is based out of our North Houston Office.  She understands the special complexities involved with commercial associations and is the perfect match to specialize in this area.  Candace is one of the many North Houston office employees that has come to really enjoy the walking trail at the office.  When not working, Candace spends time with her husband and their son.

This video explores those changes and provides specific follow-up recommendations.

Super-Budget Concepts is a great introduction (or refresher) to our Super-budget and a nice refresher or opening to the full webinar offered in our Seminar Series.

In our video, Short Term Rentals, we offer insight into short-term rental properties. We have an expert panel on board discussing everything from what a short-term rental is, to potential problems and possible solutions.

All of our Associations in Practice Series videos will be available on our YouTube channel. We will send updates when new material is added. You can also subscribe to our channel for news on the latest additions.
