Jacqueline Johanning of Dancing Bear Property Owners Association
by Brandi Brack

Jacqueline (Jax) Johanning has been a member of Dancing Bear since 2013. Jax is married to her very funny husband, Richard Johanning and has two amazing children Noah and Matthew. Jax served from October 1992 - January 2013 in the U.S. Air Force as an Air Force Medic.  She served 20 years and 3 months.  She was deployed to Iraq September 2004 - February 2005 where she served as the Non-commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of the emergency room as a Master Sergeant during the attacks in Fallujah 1 & 2, Mosul, and Tikrit.

Jax began her volunteer efforts in Dancing Bear from the day she moved in by serving on the Social Committee for several years before being elected to the Board of Directors. She has now served as the President of the association since 2015. Jax has been instrumental in the reconstruction of the low water crossings & road repairs.  She has spent valuable time during the negotiations for annual maintenance contracts.  She also spearheaded the reopening of the Lake Side Park in 2016.

Jax has always had the Dancing Bear children or “rabbits” her pet name for children, in mind with her planning and requests for improvements in the association. In 2017 she requested the association create a “safe” place for the “rabbits” to swim at the Lake Side Park with the creation of a “No Boat Zone” between the peninsulas on Medina Lake.

In 2017 Jax launched capital improvements to the 6.6 acre park now named Bluebonnet Park. On March 13, 2018, phase one was completed and inspected by the Board of Directors at 5:00 p.m.  Phase one included the installation of an amazing playground for “rabbits” ages 4-13. By 5:30 p.m. on that day Jax was overjoyed to see 14 “rabbits” playing on the playground as we headed to our board meeting. She stated “those happy rabbits make it all worth it”.

Annually, the Johanning family hosts a Halloween hay decorating event at their home and invite all of Dancing Bear’s “rabbits” to join in on the Halloween decorating fun. During the holidays the hay is turned around and the "rabbits" are invited to decorate the hay for Christmas. The "rabbits" look forward to this event each year.

C.I.A. Services would like to thank Jax Johanning for her many years of services to our country and for her continuing service to Dancing Bear POA.  We are truly grateful to have an association volunteer like her.
