National Night Out

Since 1984, the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) has been supporting National Night Out events across America to help build partnerships between the police and communities.  These events; which include block parties, parades, cookouts, seminars, and more, focus on programs such as neighborhood watch, kid safety, and crime prevention.

In the beginning, National Night Out was held in August, and most of the country still observes the August date.  In Texas, however, we observe National Night Out on the first Tuesday of October to avoid the heat.

Over 38 million neighbors of over 16,000 neighborhoods participate in National Night Out annually.  This event is a wonderful opportunity to bring citizens together with the men and women that protect them.

Many of our communities celebrate National Night Out in some way.  In fact, both San Antonio and Houston were recognized in 2015 with a national award from NATW for the successful NNO events held throughout those cities. San Antonio was ranked #2 and Houston/Harris County was #4 for areas with a population over 300,000.

If your community is planning a NNO event, be sure to share those fun stories and photos with your management team.  We would love to include a future spotlight of residents having an awesome time while working together to make their communities a better, safer place for everyone!  What are you doing on October 4th?

Woodland Oaks H.O.A. Names Volunteers of the Year
by Ernest Bailey

During the annual Woodland Oaks Homeowners Association meeting, Hans and Diana Keany were named “Volunteers of the Year, 2015 – 2016”.

Both Hans and Diana stepped forward to do some of the most difficult and back-breaking work on the clubhouse and surrounding assets. To mention just a few: Hans removed and replaced all the rotted wood in the bathrooms; he and Diana painted and repainted the walls and the floors on several occasions. He replaced one toilet and two sinks in the bathrooms; Hans has located and repaired at least eight leaking water lines both in the clubhouse and around the site.  He and Diana single handedly repainted, reroofed  and retooled the storage shed, and Hans resealed the Playscape with preservative.

Diana not only helped with the projects, but has been a very active member of the Activities Committee, of which their son, Derek, is the chairman.

The residents owe Hans and Diana much more than a pat on the back. Together, they have saved the association thousands of dollars and have enhanced the value of both the common area and our individual residences. We thank them for their heartfelt and tireless dedication to our community.

Avondale - Jacquelyn Moore
by Catina Hunter

Jacquelyn Moore (Jackie) is a phenomenal volunteer in the Avondale Community and has been a resident since 2012 while the community was still in its development stage. Although Avondale is a fairly new community, everyone knows “Jackie”. Jackie currently serves as Vice President on the Avondale Board of Directors and divides her time between serving the community and working for the City of Houston as a Tier 1 Senior Dispatcher where she has been employed for twenty years.

With the experience and knowledge that Jackie brings from working with the City of Houston she has helped in combating crime in the community and has helped other residents with problems and issues they may have concerning the city or the HOA.

When you meet Jackie, she has a large personality but an even larger heart. During any spare time she has, she enjoys traveling, bowling and interacting with people.

C.I.A. Services would like to thank Jackie for her expertise, time and dedication to the community. Our work is made possible by people like her who don’t mind jumping in and lending a helping hand to serve the community.

But Wait, There is More!
by Carrie Harmon, Branch Manager

On September 1, 2014, we acquired the assets of a San Antonio based management company. Essentially overnight, we experienced a significant growth in the total number of communities managed. As the list below demonstrates, we began managing more new communities at one time than ever before in the history of our company.

As we celebrate the 2 year anniversary of each of these communities, we reflect on the new relationships that have developed.  Every community and team member plays a very important role in the development of our company.  We would like to thank everyone that has been a part of the last two years.

Anniversaries

We love to celebrate special milestones with our employees. In the Employee Corner of each eNews issue, we will list all employees that have reached their 1 year anniversary with our company.  Additionally, once employees become stockholders at five years, we recognize them each year on their anniversary month.

Congratulations are in store for President Ralph Troiano as he celebrates 32 years since C.I.A. Services was created on September 29, 1984.  Ralph is an approachable leader that provides expertise within and outside of the company. As the creater of our software, he continues to enhance it regularly, allowing the program to be more efficient and in turn enabling the company to provide outstanding service.

Congratulations are also in order for Joanie Reed.  Joanie is celebrating her one year anniversary with us.  Joanie works hard as a Financial Team Clerk in our accounting department located in Bandera.  Congrats Joanie, we look forward to many more years!

Welcome Baby Marley Rae Lynn

Dannielle ’Dannie’ Gibson, one of our Publications Coordinators, and her husband Brent welcomed their new bundle of joy on August 16th.

Marley Rae Lynn arrived at 9:45 a.m. She weighed 7lbs. 8 oz. and was 20 in. long.

Dannie and her husband adopted twin girls (Izabella & Serenity, now 4 yrs. old) about two years ago and had a baby boy, Benjamin, last year.

Baby and Mom are doing well and this family of 6 is busy getting to know each other (and maybe shopping for a mini van)!

Congratulations Dannie on the beautiful addition to your wonderful family!
