National Night Out
Since 1984, the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) has been supporting National Night Out events across America to help build partnerships between the police and communities. These events; which include block parties, parades, cookouts, seminars, and more, focus on programs such as neighborhood watch, kid safety, and crime prevention.
In the beginning, National Night Out was held in August, and most of the country still observes the August date. In Texas, however, we observe National Night Out on the first Tuesday of October to avoid the heat.
Over 38 million neighbors of over 16,000 neighborhoods participate in National Night Out annually. This event is a wonderful opportunity to bring citizens together with the men and women that protect them.
Many of our communities celebrate National Night Out in some way. In fact, both San Antonio and Houston were recognized in 2015 with a national award from NATW for the successful NNO events held throughout those cities. San Antonio was ranked #2 and Houston/Harris County was #4 for areas with a population over 300,000.
If your community is planning a NNO event, be sure to share those fun stories and photos with your management team. We would love to include a future spotlight of residents having an awesome time while working together to make their communities a better, safer place for everyone! What are you doing on October 4th?

San Antonio Community Association Day
The Greater San Antonio Chapter of Community Associations Institute will be holding their 5th Annual Community Association Day on Saturday, October 22nd.
The event kicks off with a Legislative Breakfast followed by multiple education and exposition sessions and lunch. It then wraps up with a fun social hour. This is a day full of opportunities to gain some new insight on industry issues as well as time to obtain information on products, services and solutions for board members, property managers and homeowners living in community associations.
CA Day is free and sure to be a great event for all that attend. C.I.A. Services will be hosting a booth at the event and we hope you will have the chance to stop by and say hi!

Woodland Oaks H.O.A. Names Volunteers of the Year
by Ernest Bailey
During the annual Woodland Oaks Homeowners Association meeting, Hans and Diana Keany were named “Volunteers of the Year, 2015 – 2016”.
Both Hans and Diana stepped forward to do some of the most difficult and back-breaking work on the clubhouse and surrounding assets. To mention just a few: Hans removed and replaced all the rotted wood in the bathrooms; he and Diana painted and repainted the walls and the floors on several occasions. He replaced one toilet and two sinks in the bathrooms; Hans has located and repaired at least eight leaking water lines both in the clubhouse and around the site. He and Diana single handedly repainted, reroofed and retooled the storage shed, and Hans resealed the Playscape with preservative.
Diana not only helped with the projects, but has been a very active member of the Activities Committee, of which their son, Derek, is the chairman.
The residents owe Hans and Diana much more than a pat on the back. Together, they have saved the association thousands of dollars and have enhanced the value of both the common area and our individual residences. We thank them for their heartfelt and tireless dedication to our community.
Avondale - Jacquelyn Moore
by Catina Hunter
Jacquelyn Moore (Jackie) is a phenomenal volunteer in the Avondale Community and has been a resident since 2012 while the community was still in its development stage. Although Avondale is a fairly new community, everyone knows “Jackie”. Jackie currently serves as Vice President on the Avondale Board of Directors and divides her time between serving the community and working for the City of Houston as a Tier 1 Senior Dispatcher where she has been employed for twenty years.
With the experience and knowledge that Jackie brings from working with the City of Houston she has helped in combating crime in the community and has helped other residents with problems and issues they may have concerning the city or the HOA.
When you meet Jackie, she has a large personality but an even larger heart. During any spare time she has, she enjoys traveling, bowling and interacting with people.
C.I.A. Services would like to thank Jackie for her expertise, time and dedication to the community. Our work is made possible by people like her who don’t mind jumping in and lending a helping hand to serve the community.
We are pleased to present the C.I.A. Services Seminar Series. During our series, we present seven classroom seminars and one webinar throughout the year - each at multiple locations for a total of 28 training sessions. Click here to read the full seminar descriptions and see the schedule.
Each seminar concentrates on the practical aspects of the topic and provides board members with background knowledge to help them in their decision making. We consistently receive positive feedback on the content and presentation.
Each two-hour seminar begins at 6:00 pm and we provide deli sandwiches in case you come straight from work. You’ll leave with a wealth of practical information and a notebook for future reference.
Board Member Orientation
This seminar is a must for all new Board members and a great refresher for seasoned veterans. It will help you get up to speed quickly by understanding your responsibilities and authorities. We’ll review the documents and laws that govern the way you do business. We’ll give you an overview of the governing documents, basis of authority, organizational roles, responsibilities & authorities, conduct of meetings, and we’ll cover insurance and taxes.

Deerfield Owners Association
We are proud of every one of our communities so it is always hard to find just one to highlight. We start by having each of our Community Managers write a nomination for one of their communities. We then read them and take a vote. Here are our most recent selections:
To see the full story on these communities and to see the past winners, visit the Community of the Month page on our site.
Aliana Homeowners Association
We are so pleased to welcome the Aliana Homeowners Association to C.I.A. Services. Aliana is located on the Grand Parkway in Richmond, just southwest of Houston. The community offers beautiful amenities including The Club, a resort style recreation center offering swimming, tennis, leisure, and learning.
A beautiful master-planned community with 2,200 homes and on its way to 4,500 homes at completion, Aliana was the third fastest growing community in Houston last year and should sell about 450 new homes this year.
Welcome to the family!
Aliana Community Council
We are excited to welcome the Aliana Community Council! Commonly known as Aliana Living or Kith & Kin, the community council is the Community Support Organization (CSO) for Aliana.
With the mission of enhancing the living experience in Aliana and the community around it, Kith & Kin is committed to the following areas.
We are excited to begin our partnership with Aliana Living! Thank you for joining us!
Every month we appreciate the communities that are celebrating their anniversaries with us. Here are the clients that started with us in the month of September.
Our goal has always been to create a positive, long term relationship with all of our client communities. We are very proud to be managing all of these communities. Thank you for your loyalty and being a part of our success!
But Wait, There is More!
by Carrie Harmon, Branch Manager
On September 1, 2014, we acquired the assets of a San Antonio based management company. Essentially overnight, we experienced a significant growth in the total number of communities managed. As the list below demonstrates, we began managing more new communities at one time than ever before in the history of our company.
As we celebrate the 2 year anniversary of each of these communities, we reflect on the new relationships that have developed. Every community and team member plays a very important role in the development of our company. We would like to thank everyone that has been a part of the last two years.
Happy 2 year anniversary to these awesome San Antonio communities!
We continue to add San Antonio communities to our list of clients and look forward to many more years with them all!
Anniversaries
We love to celebrate special milestones with our employees. In the Employee Corner of each eNews issue, we will list all employees that have reached their 1 year anniversary with our company. Additionally, once employees become stockholders at five years, we recognize them each year on their anniversary month.
Congratulations are in store for President Ralph Troiano as he celebrates 32 years since C.I.A. Services was created on September 29, 1984. Ralph is an approachable leader that provides expertise within and outside of the company. As the creater of our software, he continues to enhance it regularly, allowing the program to be more efficient and in turn enabling the company to provide outstanding service.
Congratulations are also in order for Joanie Reed. Joanie is celebrating her one year anniversary with us. Joanie works hard as a Financial Team Clerk in our accounting department located in Bandera. Congrats Joanie, we look forward to many more years!
Welcome Baby Marley Rae Lynn
Dannielle ’Dannie’ Gibson, one of our Publications Coordinators, and her husband Brent welcomed their new bundle of joy on August 16th.
Marley Rae Lynn arrived at 9:45 a.m. She weighed 7lbs. 8 oz. and was 20 in. long.
Dannie and her husband adopted twin girls (Izabella & Serenity, now 4 yrs. old) about two years ago and had a baby boy, Benjamin, last year.
Baby and Mom are doing well and this family of 6 is busy getting to know each other (and maybe shopping for a mini van)!
Congratulations Dannie on the beautiful addition to your wonderful family!
