Cinco Ranch Southwest Community Council (CRSWCC) is a community-based, non-profit corporation whose purpose is to provide programs, activities, and services to facilitate and enhance community life in the Cinco Ranch community and the greater community while responding to individual creativity and interests. In short, the CRSWCC Board of Trustees is responsible for the social activities, educational activities, cultural experiences, environmental programs, and charitable offerings for the Cinco Ranch Southwest and Northwest communities of 6,358 homes. Under the best circumstances, this is a large undertaking for the 7-member board with the assistance of the Community Coordinator.
In the past year as we have emerged from lockdown, the Community Council has adapted its stance on what it is that makes a community event or activity. Since March 2020, the Community Council has moved from virtual and/or drive-through events to hybrid events and they are now back to in-person events. At the beginning of the year, they held a Social Paws Pet Parade; followed by their first Glow in the Dark Bingo Night in February. The Community Council kept the Treasure Egg Hunt going all month long in March and the Easter Eggstravaganza event held its first egg hunt in over three years with approximately 700 in attendance. The Community Council also added an adult Dancing Through the Decades event that was a hit with attendees. These are just some of the events and activities from this year. We are only halfway through the year with more to come for the community and its residents!
Since 2017, the Community Council has held the Cinco Ranch Food Truck Friday event. With an attendance of 600 plus visitors, the Cinco Ranch Food Truck Friday events have been a great success and immensely welcomed by the community! Recently, the Community Council has hosted multiple blood drives for the community. To this day they have had over 150 successful donors!
Another way the Community Council works to build and strengthen their community is the creation of the Cinco Graduate page that highlights their community’s high school and college graduates. Likewise, the Community Council also keeps a focus on those families who are not ready to be in person yet. The Digital Events page created in March of 2020 is still being maintained and frequently updated and the Community Council continues to offer the Summer Fun Bag which has crafts, games, and activities for families.
As we move forward, the CRSWCC Board of Trustees and the Community Coordinator continue to brainstorm creative and fun ways to uphold the mission of the Cinco Ranch Southwest Community Council while keeping the residents of the community safe. What a great team!
