Riverwalk Property Owners Association

If you drive north on Highway 59 from Houston, you may happen upon a wonderful community known as Riverwalk.  Located in Porter, Riverwalk is a custom home community consisting of 1187 lots and currently about 500 single family homes.

Such a large community takes many volunteers and Riverwalk Property Owners Association has no shortage of those with several active committees in place. As a result, the Association hosts many successful community events every year. A huge July 4th fireworks display is enjoyed at the Lake Park. In the fall, residents look forward to the annual car show, which allows them to show off their vintage, restored, or just cool and one-of-a-kind vehicles. Trophies are awarded in several different categories. On Halloween, there is a hay ride with the destination being a trunk or treat event at the Lake Park. Volunteers also organized a Clean Up Riverwalk event this year, with lunch provided to all the participants. There is an annual Christmas gathering at the Lake Park for residents also and in 2014 a toy drive was added to the calendar with donated toys taken to the Porter Fire Station to help provide gifts for children in the local area.

The Lake Park is at the center of most of the community activities. The Riverwalk P.O.A. Board has approved capital projects for 2015 to add a playground and permanent restrooms to the park. This project will continue the Association’s trend of improvements. Just last year, a facelift was completed on the security offices at the front entrance and the Lake Park and entrance fountain.  Also in 2014, major cleanup of the many drainage ditches and waterways in the community was completed, which has drastically improved drainage issues. There was also an issue with water hyacinth buildup in the Association’s 66 acre lake. The Board addressed this by approving chemical treatments and manual removal as needed of the dead plant material around the dam area. A regular lake maintenance contract has been implemented as well to help keep the hyacinth from becoming an issue again in the future.

All three positions on the Riverwalk P.O. A. Board of Directors are up for election each year. The Board works diligently to get many issues resolved and projects approved during the short tenure they have. Having such a dedicated group of directors and volunteers is what makes Riverwalk a true community and C.I.A. Services is proud to manage them! We look forward to a long and successful relationship with the wonderful residents and community of Riverwalk!
